The Chapman Bovey Briefcase Navy is by Chapman Bags, the Carlisle-based English maker that has been hand-cutting and stitching leather and waxed canvas bags since 1984. Originally a military equipment supplier, Chapman now makes country and town bags using the same construction methods — saddle-stitched, brass-fitted, and built for decades rather than seasons.
The briefcase is sized to take A4 documents, laptops up to 15 inches, and the daily essentials. The leather is full-grain bridle leather, hand-cut and saddle-stitched at the seams. Brass hardware throughout, leather-strap closures, and an interior with a divider pocket and pen loops.
This is the navy colourway.
Care: Wipe the waxed canvas with a damp cloth when dirty. Reproof the canvas every 2-3 years with a quality wax dressing. The bridle leather develops patina naturally — wipe clean and condition with a leather cream once or twice a year.
