The Northamptonshire Productive Society — NPS — was founded in 1881 as a cooperative of shoemakers in Wollaston, Northamptonshire. It is one of the longest-running shoemaking operations in England, and the only major Northampton maker still operating as an employee-owned cooperative. The same factory produces Solovair (the air-cushioned sole boots) and the NPS range of traditional brogues, Oxfords, and Derby shoes, all using the same Goodyear welted construction methods developed over 140 years.
