The NPS Shoes Heath 6 Eyederby Boots Burgundy is by NPS — the Northampton Productive Society, founded in 1881 in Wollaston as a worker-owned co-operative. When the factory faced closure in 2006 the workforce voted to sell it to Ivor Tilley, a Wollaston man, and it has been privately owned since. The factory still produces both NPS-branded shoes and Solovair side by side.
Goodyear welted construction with a calf leather upper, full leather lining, and a leather sole and heel. The shoes are made in England in the same Wollaston factory the co-operative built, by a workforce whose craft has carried through six generations of industrial change.
NPS shoes are built to last; the construction is fully resoleable and the leather develops character with wear. The factory's long continuity means quality control is treated as a matter of pride rather than just process.
