The deep matte finish reads as the most formal option in the range, which is exactly what makes it so easy to wear: pull it on over dark cords for a shooting weekend, over jeans for the school run in the rain, or under a city mac when the pavements have given up. Underneath that discreet black surface is the construction Hunter has barely altered since the 1950s. Each boot is handcrafted from 28 separate pieces of natural rubber, built up by hand and finished with a calf-adjustable strap so you can pull the fit in over a waxed jacket's cuff or open it out for a thick wool sock. It is fully waterproof to the top of the leg, unlined in the original manner, and carries the two Royal Warrants that come with more than a century of making rubber boots properly.
The only detail on an otherwise unbroken black upper is the small embossed Hunter logo on the strap. Men's sizes run UK 6 to 13.
Care: Rinse in cold water after wear, dry away from direct heat, and buff occasionally with Hunter Boot Buffer to bring the matte finish back. Store out of direct sunlight.
