Saphir Medaille d'Or Pate de Luxe is the polish used by the master shoemakers of Northampton, Paris, and Milan. The 50ml tin contains a blend of pine resin, beeswax, carnauba wax, and natural pigment — formulated to nourish the leather while producing a depth of shine that mass-market polishes cannot match. Mahogany is a red-toned brown, for the chestnut, rosewood and dark oak calf that a plain brown wax leaves looking flat, and it is the usual choice for keeping the warmth in a burnished toe and heel.
Apply thinly with a polishing cloth, work in small circular motions, allow 10 minutes to absorb, then buff with a horsehair brush. For mirror finish on toes and heels, follow with Saphir Mirror Gloss.
