Calf worn without socks softens quickly and takes the shape of the foot, and the vamp will crease across the flex point within a few wears. That is the shoe settling rather than wearing out. Feeding the leather every few weeks keeps it supple and stops the creases from going hard.
Barker build the Wallis with lockstitch construction on their 471 last in an F fitting, with a full leather insole and lining and hand-stitched detailing round the apron. Use a conditioner or a matching brown cream every few weeks rather than waiting for the leather to look tired. Cedar trees between wears absorb what the lining has soaked up. Rinse salt water off with clean water and let the shoes dry slowly.
