The Allsop is a casual suede loafer: a slip-on in soft brown suede on a studded rubber sole, which gives it more grip and more give underfoot than a leather-soled loafer. It is a shoe for weekends and warm months, with chinos, linen and denim, and it is at its best worn without fuss.

John White no longer make the Allsop. These are the last pairs we hold, and they are in the Outlet: one pair each in UK 8, UK 11 and UK 12. The Allsop is also in the Outlet in sand and navy.

F is John White's standard fitting. A loafer has no laces to take up slack, so it should feel snug across the instep when new; suede gives a little with wear.

The John White name goes back to 1919 in Northamptonshire, where the design side of the business still is; the shoes come from partner makers.

Care: Spray with a suede protector before the first wear, brush the nap after each wear, and use a suede eraser on marks. Let a wet pair dry naturally, away from heat, then brush.
